Our family tells a story of Kajbi, our grandmother, and the recipes she learned from Arab spice traders who came to Kerala.
Inspired by those recipes and the dates they introduced her to, she began trying something of her own at home. One unexpected creation became a pickle unlike anything our family had tasted before.
What began as a happy accident became a recipe to remember. Kajbi kept making it for the people around her, and the family kept the recipe close, passing it from one generation to the next.
Today, we share her taste of home.
